A BUSY YEAR AHEAD FOR ROTARY

At his first council meeting of the Rotary Club of Narberth & Whitland, President David Haward (pictured at his inauguration) dealt with the activities programme for 2017-2018 which is proving to be a busy year for members.  The klist is briefly summarised below:

Friday 23rd July Supporting the Dementia Club (Living Memories Group) at the Narberth Museum. Thereafter every two weeks for the next six months.

Friday 11th August Duck Race and Pig Roast at Cresswell Quay.

Sunday 3rd September Charity bike ride for Breast Cancer and End PolioNow (starts at Bloomield Community Centre, Narberth).

Saturday 4th November, the Autumn Concert at Follies, Theatre, Folly Farm starring Paul Potts with supporting acts and Whitland Male Voice Choir.

Sunday 17th May, The fifth annual Welsh Dragon Boat Championship will be at Llysyfran Reservoir and Country park with free children’s entertainment.

David commented that his committee Chair persons have worked hard to preewsent a well-balanced and varied series of evnts for social fellowship and charitable fund-raising.

Secretary John Sleigh also reported that following a vote amongst members the Welsh Dragon Boat Championship date was now a fixed event in the annual calendar. It will always be held on the last Sunday in May this being popular on the long bank holiday weekend. Ken Morgan, the co-ordinator for the WDBC commented “ we have raised approximately £50K for charitable causes in the last 4 years so we think we have a successful formula to continue this event well into the future.”

THE EAGLE FINALLY LANDED AT LLYSYFRAN

In The Welsh Dragon Boat Championship held  at Llysyfran Reservoir and Country park on Sunday 28th May It was a close run finish. In under one minute “Full Bore”, the team from The Eagle Inn,  won with power and a perfect  paddling rhythm. So the Eagle has finally landed the winner’s trophy.

Army Manouvers at Llys Y Fran

On Bank Holiday Sunday May 28th Major James John of 157 Welsh Regiment will be bringing some of his troop and army trucks to Llysyfran Country park and Reservoir to assist the organisers of the Welsh Dragon Boat Championship.

The Army is coming to Llysyfran

The Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland, organisers of  the Welsh Dragon Boat Championship 2017, is delighted to announce that they have recruited the Army to help out at the event to be held at Llysyfrsan Reservoir and Country Park, Pembrokeshire on Sunday 28th May 2017.
